Climate Action Plan
BOOM. Climate Action Plan
A practical path towards lower impact
Our first public plan for improving packaging decisions and sourcing transparency.
Our commitment
BOOM. is committed to contributing to efforts to limit global warming to 1.5°C.
We recognise that our products, packaging, sourcing, freight and fulfilment all have an environmental impact. Our immediate priority is to improve the quality of the information available to us, so future decisions and targets are based on reliable evidence rather than assumptions.
2026 is our baseline year
We will measure, engage suppliers and assess practical alternatives. This work will lead to measurable targets for 2027 and beyond.
Where we are focusing
Packaging and operational materials
Build a reliable packaging baseline and identify lower impact alternatives.
Supplier standards and sourcing transparency
Improve sourcing information and introduce clear expectations for priority suppliers.
1. Packaging and operational materials
Our 2026 objective
During 2026, BOOM. will establish a reliable packaging baseline covering the type, weight, material composition and cost of packaging used for each order type.
Based on this baseline, we will assess lower impact alternatives and set a measurable reduction target for packaging material per shipped order for 2027 and beyond. We will also define a commitment for the use of recycled content and FSC certified paper and cardboard.
What we will do in the next 12 months
- Measure packaging material type, weight and cost per order type.
- Create a simple packaging impact tracker.
- Assess alternatives for sleeves, mailers and void fill.
- Compare recycled content, FSC certification, material reduction potential, cost, feasibility and lead time.
- Use the findings to prioritise packaging redesigns or supplier changes from 2027 onwards.
Who we will work with
We will work with packaging suppliers and our fulfilment partner to collect reliable material and cost data and to understand which alternatives are practical at our scale.
2. Supplier standards and sourcing transparency
Our 2026 objective
During 2026, BOOM. will identify the suppliers representing the majority of our product and packaging spend and obtain basic information on material composition, production locations and packaging choices.
In parallel, we will introduce our Supplier Code of Conduct to priority suppliers and request formal acknowledgement. The findings will be used to set a measurable target for supplier coverage and sourcing information.
What we will do in the next 12 months
- Rank priority suppliers based on spend and potential impact.
- Collect basic sourcing, material and production location information.
- Discuss practical and achievable improvements with key suppliers.
- Introduce the BOOM. Supplier Code of Conduct for acknowledgement.
- Define an appropriate supplier review process for 2027 onwards.
Who we will work with
We will engage manufacturers, sourcing agents and packaging suppliers to improve data quality, understand feasibility and identify realistic improvement priorities.
Accountability and progress
The actions in this plan are covered through existing Operations and Product Development capacity. Any future costs related to packaging redesign, testing, tooling, audits, certification or supplier changes will be assessed separately before implementation.
Baseline and supplier prioritisation
Packaging tracker, supplier ranking and initial sourcing data.
Market and supplier engagement
Alternative materials assessed and the Supplier Code of Conduct introduced.
Targets and implementation
Packaging reduction targets, supplier coverage targets and prioritised improvements.
Our review commitment
BOOM. will review progress annually and update this Climate Action Plan when new baseline information, targets or material actions become available.
Progress will be owned by Operations, with support from Product Development and oversight from management.
